Guilty pleasure series: Popcorn

Sweet, salt or savoury?

I must admit, eating healthy is very tasty but sometimes I find myself wanting to enjoy some pre-made snacks for an evening of couch binging with my favourite series. Installing yourself in the couch with a cat, a cuddly snuggie, a mug of hot tea and a big bowl of popcorn is a golden combination which is not very easily overpowered. Of course me being me I always like to seek the somewhat different kind of popcorn flavours. Over the course of time I Have tried many different versions an come up with my all-time favourites. I will shortly review every kind so you will hopefully become excited to try them as well. It' s perfectly fine to make things easy for yourself and just munch away.

Proper corn Smooth Peanut & Almond

I came across this popcorn when I was shopping of my regular supermarket. It immediately caught my eye as I am a big sucker for peanut butter. The fact that they claimed to have managed to incorporate it into a popcorn flavour amazed me. I never thought it would be possible for the popcorn to stay crunch and crisp once it is coated with butter. However, when I upon the bag I was pleasantly surprised. Inside was a wonderful, nutty smell. Every corn is covered in a smooth layer of nuttiness salted lightly. Exactly how I like it. The popcorn smelts in your mouth and has a really distinctive flavour. The fact that is it for sale at the Albert Heijn makes it even more appealing because it regularly ends up in my shopping bag when I am doing groceries. It is not overly fatty or heavy so you can easily eat a couple of hands. It claims to be suitable for vegans and gm free which is a nice bonus I guess.

Cookie pop popcorn Cookies & Cream

This version is something which I snack on if I get to celebrate something special. Whether it is a good grade or just a perfect day (I will find an excuse). This popcorn is really American as it is oreo flavoured and only sold by the Jamin. It is kind of pricy, however definitely worth every penny. The popcorn is very airy and crunchy. It has little chunks of cookie around it which perfectly resembles the oreo biscuits. However the ' creamy' component is not very easily spotted. Luckily for me because a don't like that bit haha. This is just a kind of popcorn which you buy when you are not concerned about being healthy or economic friendly or anything but just because it taste bloody damn good,

Ten Acre Ambrose popperley' s wasabi popcorn

Yes, wasabi flavoured popcorn. It exists! When I first bought it i was like, really how spicy can it be? So I stuffed down a big hand of popcorn... then I ran to the kitchen to get a glass of water as I HD underestimated the hotness slightly. You need to be in the mood for this treat. I recommend eating it with a little refreshing dip to take of the heat. I like to snack on it in the evening after an Asian meal. However, serving this is a starter would be a great appetiser as well to get your stomach ready for more! THE plus side of this popcorn is that it is low in sugar and fats so not a bad treat at all. Although it is hard to get you can order it online an comes in portion sized bags.

Trafo hand popped corn Coconut & Cacao

Chocolate covered popcorn, what more can a women want? Well chocolate coated popcorn with coconut flavoured! This combination is divine with the bittersweet flavour of the Cacao in combination with the tropical notes of the coconut. This popcorn is sold by many organic shops and is not artificially flavoured but all natural. I doubt whether the bag is meant to be a one size serve or two but I can never leave it unfinished. My hand just automatically continues to reach out to grab another hand of delicious puffed air. The only downside is that this popcorn is not entirely coated so sometimes you come across a somewhat more blend piece of popcorn.

I really cannot pick which one I like best. It all depends on my mood, that is why it is nice to have multiple choices. I know there are many more flavours, I even found one flavoured with Worcester sauce and tomato! That was even one step too far for me.
